Taxes
Our taxes are already too high. Larry Disney will introduce legislation to
require voter approval for tax increases at both the state and local level.
We already work into July each year to pay the cost of government, it’s time
to put the brakes on.
Government Spending
Iowa already has a law requiring the legislature to spend no more than 99%
of tax revenues. Unfortunately, the legislature can override that law with a
simple majority vote. Larry Disney will introduce legislation to put that
requirement into the Iowa Constitution and require a super majority to spend
more than 99% of what is taken in.
Personal Safety and Firearms
Larry Disney will sponsor legislation making it crystal clear that law
abiding citizens are never required to back down before assailants or
intruders. Your person, your home and your business should be inviolable and
any criminal who attacks you, or invades your property and presents you with
a dire threat, should bear sole responsibility for the outcome.
Right now each of Iowa’s 99 sheriffs is allowed to have their own policy
regarding concealed carry permits. Some have a reasonable policy allowing
law abiding citizens to keep and carry firearms to protect themselves and
others. On the other hand, some sheriffs allow no permits or put
unreasonable restrictions on them. Larry Disney will introduce "shall issue"
legislation requiring sheriffs to issue permits as long as the applicants
have no history of violent crime, no history of serious mental instability,
are of legal age, are US citizens or legal residents, are able to pass a
minimum firearms knowledge test and fire a firearm safely.
Illegal Immigration
Larry Disney will introduce legislation to punish employers who knowingly
hire illegal aliens, to deny bail to illegal aliens and require local
officials to notify immigration authorities, to ensure drivers licenses are
issued only to people here legally, and to deny all state aid to business
that do not follow the immigration law.
Marriage
Marriage should be between one man and one woman. Larry Disney will vote to
allow Iowan’s to vote to put that into the Iowa Constitution.
Economic Development
Businesses based in
Iowa are subject to
higher corporate taxes than businesses in any foreign country in the world.
This makes
Iowa one of the most
expensive places in the world to do business and depresses
Iowa’s economic development.

McCarthy says he supports the NRA but it is all bogus claims as he
constantly defies his people as a representative to support party wishes.

Over the last few years Democrats have raised taxes and
spending with no apparent regard for the business climate in
Iowa.
This hostile attitude towards business will bring us a lowering of living
standards and cause young Iowans to move elsewhere to seek the American
Dream.
Larry Disney understands that employers must be able
to make a profit and that making that profits disappear will make jobs
disappear as well. Once elected Larry Disney will work to make
Iowa a good and
profitable place to do business. THAT is how to bring good high paying jobs
to the
Hawkeye
State.
Health Insurance
We need to make health insurance more affordable. We made a start on this
when Larry Disney was in the legislature and voted to let individual Iowans
fully deduct health insurance premiums just like businesses do.
Unfortunately insurance costs have continued to rise, largely because of
mandates required by the government. Several states are now working to allow
individuals and small business to buy basic coverage without all the
government mandates. Larry Disney will introduce legislation to give health
care consumers choices that allow them to buy less expensive coverage that
protects them from catastrophic illnesses and injuries.
Tort Reform
Trial Lawyers make a good living driving up the costs of everything from
healthcare to hamburgers. It’s time to enact common sense reforms to our
legal system. Too often ridiculous lawsuits are filed knowing that
defendants will settle just to avoid the expense of a lawsuit. Our legal
system should not be treated like a lottery. Larry Disney will introduce
legislation to discourage frivolous lawsuits.
Eminent Domain
Larry Disney will stand with property owners and will fight to prevent
private property from being taken for other than the traditional reasons for
eminent domain.
Protecting Kids
Larry Disney will vote to require background checks for childcare workers
and to require the notification of school authorities if a teacher is
arrested.
Private Schools & Home Schooling
Larry Disney will vote to allow private schools that meet basic
certification standards to be exempt from the State Curriculum requirements.
Larry Disney believes parents have the right to home school their children.
Identity Theft
Larry Disney will vote to make it a felony for Public Employees to sell
citizens private information and will vote to require the State Government
to notify individuals when it has learned that someone else is using their
Social Security Numbers.
Right to Work Law
Larry Disney will vote to keep Iowa’s Right to Work Law.
