Iowa Business Taxes Are the Highest in the World

August 15, 2008 - Des Moines, Iowa -

According to the Wall Street Journal a business based in Iowa is subject to higher corporate taxes than businesses in any foreign country in the world.  Apparently that is fine with the anti business Democrats currently running the state.  The mere suggestion, by Iowa House Republicans, of reducing taxes to help Iowa business recover from flooding and be more competitive was enough to elicit shrieks of rage from Kevin McCarthy, the Democrat Majority Leader of the Iowa House.

Over the last few years McCarthy, Gronstal and Culver have raised taxes and spending with no apparent regard for the business climate in Iowa.  Making Iowa one of the most expensive places in the world to do business seems an odd way to promote economic development.  McCarthy’s hostile attitude towards business will bring us a lowering of living standards and cause young Iowans to move elsewhere to seek the American Dream.

Larry Disney understands that employers must be able to make a profit and that making that profit disappear will make the jobs disappear as well.  Once elected Larry Disney will work to make Iowa a good and profitable place to do business.  THAT is how to bring good high paying jobs to the Hawkeye State.
